Vintage electrics have been around for some time and are respected as well built, capable sounding instruments. The V6 is no exception, with its familiar contoured double cutaway shape, 3 single-coil pickups and classic vibrato system. The V6 Icon version is for those who like to see the worn appearance of a well-used guitar (a la Rory Gallagher) as it has been 'distressed' in the factory prior to shipping.
THE GUITAR
The guitar comes in a classic sunburst finish, plus a whole range of the solid colours we have come expect from this vintage style. The 'distressed' version comes looking 20 years old and badly misused, whilst the standard version has a pristine paint job as you might expect from any good quality electric.
Pickups and hardware are from the excellent 'Wilkinson' range - authentic looking and sounding - as you would expect from this respected manufacturer. Bodies are either mahogany or poplar depending on version, and the bolt-on maple neck comes with rosewood or maple fingerboard and 22 medium frets. Pearloid dot inlays all round, and the familiar classic vibrato complete the package. Left-handed versions are available as standard.
TIME TO PLAY!
The V6 feels 'right' in the playing position. Review samples had a nice action - not too low, giving ample sustain when played unplugged - a good sign when assessing how an electric will sound through an amplifier. Intonation was fine, and the sound was capable in every area you would expect from a 3 pickup / single-coil combination. Lovely mellow front-pickup sounds through to screaming treble from the bridge pickup. I tested the V6 against my USA made classic and was very impressed!

All in all a very fine range of guitars, and an absolute steal at the price... Highly recommended.
